Frank J. McCormick Jr. Obituary
Frank J. McCormick Jr. 82, of West Chester, died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester. He was the husband of the late Margaret Fisher McCormick. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Frank J. McCormick, Sr. and the late Grace Brittan McCormick. Frank graduated from St. Agnes High School in West Chester. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was part of Operation Bumble Bee, which was the first helicopter assault in world history. Frank was an HVAC mechanic for Brandywine Valley Heating and Air Conditioning of West Chester. He was a member of St. Agnes Church in West Chester. Frank was a Lifetime Member of First West Chester Fire Co. where he held numerous positions including President and Assistant Fire Chief. He was a PA State Fire Academy Instructor at the Chester County Fire School. He was a founding board member of the West Chester Fire Department Training Center and a board member of The West Chester Volunteer Fireman's Relief Association. He formerly served as the East Bradford Township Emergency Management Coordinator and was an avid runner and photographer. Frank is survived by his son, Frank J. McCormick III of Austin, Texas; son Michael J. McCormick of Oakton, Va.; daughter, Ellen M. Ronayne of West Chester; daughter, Barbara M. Drabinski of Drexel Hill; son, David G. McCormick of Oxford; and daughter, Maureen D. McCormick of West Chester; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace DiProspero of Kennett Square, and Sara Richardson of Downingtown. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, with a morning visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester. Evening visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 N.
