G. Raymond "Raymie" Elmer Obituary
G. Raymond 'Raymie' Elmer of Honey Brook G. Raymond "Raymie" Elmer, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at his home, following an illness. He was born in Cambridge, Pa. on March 17, 1928. Raymond was the son of the late George Dewey and Mary E. (Wetzler) Elmer. He was the husband of the late Dolores G. (Fisher) Elmer, who died on Aug. 17, 2006. Raymond was a heavy equipment operator for Harry J. Jacobs of Wagontown and later for Lyons and Hohl. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in Germany. Raymond was also a well-known employee of the Stoltzfus Market of Honey Brook. He was a member of the American Legion Wawassan Post # 322 of Honey Brook, lifetime of the VFW, and the Honey Brook Fire Company. Raymond enjoyed Phillies baseball, but loved to be with his family and friends in all-social occasions. All that knew him will dearly miss Raymond. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy B. Elmer in 1956; also his siblings, Dorothy Keiffer and Ira Wetzler. Raymond is survived by a son, Raymond Keith and his wife Debbie Elmer of Honey Brook, a brother, Vernon Elmer of Denver, Pa. and a sister, Jane Gosert of Narvon. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29th, from the Chapel of the Tel Hai Retirement Community, 3100 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, with Pastor Tim Herr officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Pequea Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Raymond to the Tel Hai Care Assurance Fund, PO Box 190, Honey Brook, PA 19344-0190.
