J. Gordon Pfleiger

J. Gordon Pfleiger of Audubon John Gordon Pfleiger, 83, of Audubon, passed away peacefully on his birthday, April 17, 2014, at the Meadows at Shannondell. Born in Silverdale, Pa. to Russell and Bertha Pfleiger, Gordon lived most of his life in Malvern, and for the past 11 years at Shannondellat Valley Forge in Audubon. Gordon is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 61 years, Gloria W. Pfleiger; his daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Craig Skouden, Lynda and Mark Moncuso, and Jeri and Brian King; his grandsons, Evan and Ross Moncuso; and many family members and friends who loved and respected him. Gordon's career as an educator included him serving as an elementary school teacher and principal for over 35 years within the Radnor and Perkiomen Valley school districts. After retiring, he continued to stay active and sharp by working in a unique administrative support role at SEI Investment. Throughout the years, Gordon also served as a deacon at the Paoli Presbyterian Church, volunteered for over 10 years at the Paoli Memorial Hospital, and served as a member of the Chester County Historic Preservation Network. Gordon had a passion for music. Not only did he share his beautiful voice through Barbershop Quartets, church choirs, and as a member of other singing groups, he played the trumpet and the recorder. Gordon also loved to travel and enjoyed playing, watching, and keeping score for pool tournaments at Shannondell; wood carving; and watching sports, particularly the Philadelphia Phillies. Above all, Gordon thoroughly enjoyed interacting with people. His sense of humor, quick wit and true interest in others made him a friend to all who met him, and his kindness and gentleness continually inspired those around him to do good things for others. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 21st, at the Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 S. Valley Road, Paoli, PA 19301. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gordon's name to the Paoli Presbyterian Church Mission Fund, at above address; and/or to The Foundation at Shannondell (a scholarship program for student employees), Shannondell at Valley Forge, 10000 Shannondell Drive, Audubon, PA 19403.
