John Hopkins Obituary

John T. Hopkins of Malvern John T. Hopkins of Malvern, Pa., passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 13, 1957 to James A. (Deceased) and Florence J. (Barry) Hopkins in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Besides his mother, Florence, John is survived by four siblings, Cathy McNamara of Coatesville, James Hopkins (Adena)of Downingtown, Marion Marino (Pete) of Exton and Anne Marini of Wilmington, Del. He was preceded in death by sisters, Theresa Marie and MaryEllen Hopkins. He also influenced the lives of his nieces and nephews who he adored and they cherished their time with him. John graduated from Great Valley High School in 1977. He went on to become a skilled carpenter and operated his own business and later joined Sha-Nic of West Chester as a lead foreman who oversaw the awarded projects to completion. In his free time he enjoyed furniture making and fishing in Alaska, Mexico and at home with his friend, Bill. He played Billiards with his friend, Kevin (and many others). Their team qualified and competed in Las Vegas for the National Championship. But his number one passion was Golf. He was an excellent golfer and enjoyed playing golf with everyone, no matter their skill level but he especially enjoyed golfing with Pete, Mark and Michael. A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at St. Patrick's Church on Channing Avenue in Malvern, Pa. where family and friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John's memory to the Phoenixville Clinic, 143 Church Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460. For he'll take up some pine or whatever's at hand
And look ‘long the grain to see if it's straight.
From there will emerge something truly unique
But to gaze on its beauty we'll patiently wait.

As the morning sun shines through glistening dew
and reflects on his face while he dreams far away,
He warms to the thought of new projects to make
and so, he begins another new day.
