John Joseph "Jack" Lewis

John Joseph 'Jack' Lewis of Ephrata John Joseph "Jack" Lewis, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at his Ephrata home. He was born in West Philadelphia on March 15, 1932, to the late John and Marion Lewis. John was predeceased by a sister, Marion Lacey. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Wolfe) Lewis, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Barbara Jean Lewis of Ephrata; his step-children, John (Tracey) Simonelli of West Chester, Andrea Swiggett of Malvern, Beth (Michael) Shank of Exton; and his nine cherished grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and many beloved nieces and nephews. John attended Saint Thomas More Catholic Boys High School of Philadelphia. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired letter carrier of the Wayne Post Office. John was a daily Mass attendant at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ephrata. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, computer correspondence, and photography. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27th, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, PA 17522. An additional viewing will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebration at 11 a.m., at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Ave., Ephrata. Father John McLoughlin C.SS.R. will serve as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will be held at the Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
