John J. Russell Jr.

John J. Russell, Jr., formerly of Malvern and Paoli John James Russell, Jr., 83, passed away on Aug. 17, 2014. Jack was a loving husband and doting grandfather with a quick smile and witty humor. He was an avid sports fan, he never met a pet without having a treat for them and enjoyed living in Chesapeake, Va. to the fullest. Born in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John J., Sr. and Florence Russell. He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Joseph Mihalik. Jack was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 106, West Chester, Pa. and served the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Badoeng Strait CVE116. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Russell; sister, Alice Adamski and husband Joseph of Glenolden; stepchildren, Mary Mihalik of McLean, Va., Barbara O'Donnell and husband John of Malvern, Anne McConnell and husband Christopher of Chesapeake, Va. and Stephen Mihalik and wife Darla of Waterville, Minn.; stepgrandchildren, Jonathan O'Donnell of West Chester, Daniel O'Donnell of Fairfax, Va., Katlyn McConnell of La Ceiba, Honduras, Allison McConnell Griffin and husband Daniel of St. Petersburg, Fla., Riane McConnell of Chesapeake, Va., Rebeka and Christina Mihalik, both of Waterville, Minn., Malinda Mihalik Younce of Bear, Del., Jennifer Mihalik Pierce of Newark, Del., Pamela Mihalik Logan of Wilmington, Del., Joshua Mihalik of Elkton, Md. and Joseph Mihalik of Wilmington, Del.; and eight step-great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20th, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude or www.findinghopehonduras.org.
