Kevin B. Munley, 53, of Downingtown, passed away from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma surrounded by family and friends at home on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012. |
With a degree in forest science from Penn State University, Kevin worked for 26 years as a Pennsylvania state employee, and, most recently, as a watershed manager for the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Kevin was a man who cherished his time spent with family, friends and neighbors.
He had many passions, among them music and a love of nature. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, hiking, hunting and horticulture. Kevin was a local legend on the five-string banjo and vocalist who enjoyed playing gigs as a member of several different bluegrass bands over the years.
His faith was strong and he was a committed member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church in West Chester.
Preceded in death by his parents, John A. Munley Sr. and Dolores H. Munley, Kevin grew up in Glen Mills and attended Bishop Shanahan High School.
A beloved husband, brother, father, uncle and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Regina (Howe) Munley; five siblings, John A. Munley Jr., Margaret Mary Hudak, Brendan P. Munley, Patricia H. Dalton and Joseph J. Munley; three children, Sgt. 1st Class Matthew G. Munley, Bryan O. Munley and Meghan R. Munley; one grandchild, Jayden A. Munley; and many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and again from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike (at Hilltop Road), West Chester, 610-431-9000, followed by his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Ss. Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, Westtown.
The interment will be private.
