Margaret Ashby Lindeke of Downingtown Margaret Ashby Lindeke, 99, of Downingtown, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5th, 2013 at St. Martha Manor Nursing Home. Margaret was the daughter of the late Warren Hollie Ashby and Ella Fowler Ashby. During a visit to Cape May, N.J. in 1942, she met her future husband, William Raymond Lindeke. She was married to "Bill" for 38 years and lived most of her adult life in Exton, raising their four children. Margaret grew up on a large horse farm in Radnor with her two brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Tredyffrin Easttown High School where she played on the basketball team. Her early working career was with Fritz Lumber Company in Berwyn. When Margaret went back to work after her children were older, she opened and ran her own bridal shop for about ten years. After closing the bridal shop, Margaret worked for Moulton, Stevens and Nelan, a sporting goods representative in Exton, as the office manager until she retired at 70, but continued on part time until she was 75. After retirement, she became very active in the church and with her many friends. She enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, knitting, cooking and getting together with family and friends. Margaret is survived by her brother, Malcolm Ashby of Villanova, Pa. and sister, Lee Lacy of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; son, Barry (wife, Judy) of Puyallup, Wash., daughter, Jane Dalziel (husband, Dave) of Exton, and son, Ed of El Paso, Texas; nine grandchildren, Shirley Karasawa of Seattle, Wash., Theresa Reine of Falmouth, Maine, Alice Murphy of Centerville, Maine, Martin Lindeke of Eagle River, Ark., Kevin Lindeke of Newark, Del., Aaron Stoltz of East Petersburg, Amanda Curran of West Chester, Wyeth Ashby Lindeke of Albquerque, N.M. and Jordan Lindeke of Macon, Ga.; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, William Raymond Lindeke; son, John Jeffrey Lindeke; brother, Robert; and sister, Eleanor. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13th, at St. James Episcopal Church, 409 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, where friends and relatives may visit the family between 10 and 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
