Mark Salwitz Obituary

Mark A. Salwitz 'Sal' of Coatesville Mark A. Salwitz , "Sal", 54, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, April 26, 2013. Born in Bryn Mawr and raised in Broomall, he was the beloved son of the late John and Gilda Salwitz. He was a graduate of Marple-Newtown High School. He made every holiday, birthday, and family dinner special with his inventive dishes and his memorable homemade cakes. His garden was always beautifully cultivated year after year. He spent hours perfecting every detail, and was always so proud of his creations that everyone enjoyed. He also had a knack for story telling, as he could paint a vivid picture with just a few words. Sal was once self-employed as a shoemaker which was not only a profession, but a lifelong hobby. He most recently was a restaurant manager at Ron's Original Bar & Grille, where he happily worked for Ron Inverso, a great friend for over 30 years. A celebration of Sal's life will be will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the fourth of May. It will take place at his home at 1195 East Kings Highway, Coatesville, 19320. Friends and family are welcome. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Sal cherished every moment of his life. If you ever received a hug from Sal, you knew he meant it with all of his heart. He will be dearly remembered for his infectious smile and the love he had for his family. It was with a jolt that I learned today that Mark passed away a few years ago. He was always a warm individual with a great smile and a quiet sense of humor when I knew him in school.

While a hole in your heart can never be truly filled after the passing of a loved one, I hope that you are comforted in knowing that he left an impression on everyone he met.

Sal was the kinda guy that was always there for advice and a good laugh. He was my manager for years at Ron's and then at Brickside. I remember the day when I walked back into Ron's last year and Sal was at the register and was the same guy I have always known big smile and always had time to catch up with a friend.

i met Sal at the Brickside Grille in 2001 and worked with him for only one year. In that year Sal and I became like brothers. Sal always made me smile just by looking at him. His smile and laugh were contagious. He was always the one to make me forget about any problems in my world. I will miss you very much Sal!

I have not spoke to Mark in a very long time. The thing I remember about Sal, was he was guininely interested in who he was talking to. He would look you in the eye and smile. I want to be more like Mark, when you walked away from a conversation with him, you ALWAYS felt better. He was a life enhancer.

You got me the job at Ron's I joyfully held for almost 5 years. You helped make the dinner after my mothers funeral at the Brickside a memorable evening. The parties at your house during the summer were always fun. You helped my sister get the job at Ron's as well. You have a smile I will never forget. My prayers and love goes out to your family. You will be greatly missed.

I have been in touch with many of our old "Ron's" friends since hearing the news and remembering all great and funny times we had. You were one of a kind.
