Mary-Luise Hook

Mary-Luise Hook of Newtown Square Mary-Luise Hook, formerly of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. and Wynnewood, Pa., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at White Horse Village, Newtown Square. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minn., she was the daughter of the late John Francis and Laura Manderfeld Gehan. After graduating from Central High School in St. Paul, Minn., she attended the University of California, Berkley. She was the wife of Eugene R. Hook, who predeceased her in 1998 after 50 years of marriage. Mrs. Hook, a homemaker, taught Sunday school at the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, Plainfield, N.J. and the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Bryn Mawr. She was also a volunteer with the West Philadelphia Women's Committee for the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Jacksonville Symphony and Neighborhood Hospice, West Chester. She is survived by her son, James R. Hook and his wife Cheryl of Pasadena, Md. and daughter, Priscilla H. Holleran and her husband Kevin of Downingtown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, 130 W. Miner St., West Chester. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380, or First Presbyterian Church, at the above address.
