Michael Damroth

Michael Damroth, 87, of Newtown Square, passed away April 11, 2013.
He was born Jan. 29, 1926, in New York, N.Y. His parents were Selma Nelson and Michael George Damroth.
Michael grew up in Manhattan, spending summer on Long Island. He was a World War II veteran and proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Elizabeth C. Stanton.
After the war, he attended Philadelphia Military College, graduating with a degree in industrial engineering.
He worked for Merck Pharmaceutical as a marketing research vice president.
Michael married Hedy Boros in 1950 in Maryland. They were happily married for 57 years.
Mike was a member of the Philadelphia Seniors Golf Association and the "Old Goats" at Moselem Spring Golf Club. He had a love of photography and enjoyed taking pictures of his granddaughters.
Michael is predeceased by his wife, Hedwig (nee Boros).
He is survived by his daughter, Laura Somes (Ken); and four granddaughters, Michelle Lewis (Christopher), Katie, Jackie and Allie Somes.
The family will be greeting family and friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the D'Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall, 2811 West Chester Pike Broomall. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380.
