Mildred E. Krentel Obituary
Mildred E. Krental of West Chester Mildred Eunice Krentel, 91, of West Chester, died early Wednesday morning on Jan. 16, 2013, at the Wellington Terrace in West Chester. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Paul A. Krentel, formerly of Lansing, Mich. and founder of the Melmark Home in Berwyn. Mildred was born May 27, 1921 in Staten Island, N.Y. and has been a resident of the greater Philadelphia region for many years. Mrs. Krentel is better known as Miggy and was the co-founder of the Melmark Home, a world class residential home and school for children with special needs. Miggy was also a gifted writer and authored six books ranging from the founding of the Melmark Home, to children's stories, and to a widow's view of the aging process. She was a devoted mother of six children, Dave Paul Krentel of Ridgewood N.J., Robert Krentel of Seattle, Wash., Diane Krentel Hodge of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Stephen Neal Krentel of Wayne, Martha Helen Krentel (deceased) and Melissa Jane Krentel of the Melmark Home, in Berwyn. Miggy was the cherished grandmother of Scott Robert Krentel, Alison Krentel Wheatley-Price, Brian Thomas Hodge, Jonathan David Krentel, Stephen Paul Hodge, Jeffery Stephen Krentel, Julie Krentel Brenner, Laura Patricia Krentel, Benjamin David Hodge, and Amy Krentel Davidovich. She was the loved great-grandmother to 16 great grandchildren as well! The Krentel family invites you to a special Memorial Service on Wednesday, Jan. 23rd, to be held at the Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 South Valley Road, Paoli, PA 19301 Phone: 610-644-8250. The service will begin at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service of remembrance, a reception will be held in the church Fellowship Hall so you may greet the family.
