Miriam Althea Christman Hook

Miriam A. Hook, formerly of Exton Miriam Althea Christman Hook of Rosemont, died April 16, 2013, at the age of 97. Daughter of George W. Christman and Minnie L. Hemmerly, she was predeceased by her siblings Louella Wallick, Evelyn Watson, Charles Christman, George H. Christman, and William Christman, and by her former husband Bernard Hook. Mrs. Hook lived for more than fifty years in Exton. During that time she was a homemaker, professional seamstress, and, for over twenty years, manager of the meat shop on the campus of the Church Farm School in Paoli. Before coming to Exton, she was a licensed beautician and owned a salon in Upper Darby. Mrs. Hook is survived by nieces and nephews Jean Goff, Phyllis Wilborn, Clifford Watson, George W. Christman, Sr., Patricia Van Orman, Carl Christman, Sr., Paul Christman, and Linda Hayes, by many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, and by four great-great-great-nephews. She is also survived by her godchild Gail Cochrane, by dear friends Mildred Welsh, Cappy Heyde, Donald Hartz, and The Reverend Canon James Shannon, and by her many friends at Rosemont Presbyterian Village, where she lived since 2004. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, at Christ Episcopal Church Ithan, 536 Conestoga Road, Villanova. A private interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Rosemont Presbyterian Village Friendship Fund, 404 Cheswick Road, Rosemont, PA 19010.
