Paul Stimmler Obituary

Paul T. Stimmler of West Chester, 74, aerospace executive, college lecturer and antique toy historian, died peacefully, Monday, May 6, 2013, at his home in West Chester, after a brief illness. Mr. Stimmler retired in 2002 from the Triumph Group in Valley Forge where he served as both Corporate Secretary and Corporate Vice President. In retirement, he actively pursued a life-long hobby of researching and collecting antique transportation toys where he was considered an expert in the history of American toy manufacturers. In addition to his toy hobby, he was an Adjunct Professor of Business at Penn State University's Brandywine campus and a Permanent Visiting lecturer at the Graduate School of Museum Management at The State University of New York (SUNY) in Cooperstown N.Y., where he taught both Human Resource Management and Retirement Investing. Born in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia in 1939, he attended St. Thomas More HS and later graduated from Villanova University in 1962 with a degree in Economics. He served as president of his fraternity and met his wife, Gale Hare, at a fraternity party. They were married in 1964. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served during the famed Cuban Missile Crisis. His first job out of the Army was as a labor Relations Specialist for Honeywell in Ft. Washington, Pa. In successive years he developed labor relations as a subspecialty and negotiated hundreds of labor contracts as chief spokesperson with a variety of unions in 4 countries for several large employers. Mr. Stimmler had a deep affection for Ocean City, N.J. where he and his wife purchased vacation property in the 1970s. Affectionately dubbed "Bayberry Hall", their summer home proved to be the central gathering place for family and friends. Besides his wife, Mr. Stimmler is survived by four children, Kristen (Thomas) Murphy of West Chester, Michele (Matthew) Reber of West Chester, Andrew (Terri Lynn Randazzo) Stimmler of Doylestown and Alison (Brian) Shorts of Forest Hill, Md., along with 10 grandchildren whom he adored deeply. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, followed by a Funeral Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 1325 East Boot Road, West Chester, PA 19380. Interment will be held at All Souls Cemetery in Coatesville. Arrangements by DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com.. Dear Mr. Stimmler,
my name is Ivan Barca from Kovaica, Banat, Vojvodina, Serbia.
I am student of history and I am studying the history of Kovaica. The Stimmler family lived in Kovacica in the early 20th century, and played a very important role in the development of the city. They were owners of pavilions, bowling alley, cinema ... They significantly contributed to the development of our city.
Unfortunately for the Stimmler family, almost nothing is known.
I allowed myself to contact you for your surname for help.
I wish you all the best.

Father we entrust our brother Paul to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Paul in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathies.

I worked with Paul at the Penn State Brandywine Campus and always enjoyed seeing and talking with him and joking with him about exchanging cars. Rest in Peace my Friend. I will miss you.

I met Paul quite by accident when we were both invited to evaluate a museum--I the museum professional and he the member of the museum's audience. We became fast friends almost immediately. I invited Paul to teach at the Cooperstown Graduate Program and he readily agreed. That was about 13 years ago. He has been teaching for us ever since, offering seminars on human resources, retirement and investing for non-profits, and doing mock interviews for the students as they started their job search. The students loved his quiet expertise, sense of humor and wealth of information. Most of all he offered great advice and they sought him out even after graduation. He was a wonderful teacher, a great colleague, and a kind and good man. All of us at the Cooperstown Graduate Program extend our sincere sympathy to Gale and all of the Stimmlers. We will miss Paul terribly.

Gale and entire family, We are so truly sorry we didn't learn of Paul's passing until tonight. We so would have wanted to be at his services and truly regret not being there. Please know we would have been there if we had known he had passed away. He was truly a special person. Both Paul and Gale touched our lives in a huge way and helped and supported us in our times of need. They got us through a really tough time in our lives. We will always be grateful for insight and support they gave us. We are blessed to have the entire family in our lives. We can't put into words how truly sorry we weren't at the services. Paul and Gale have always been such a source of support for us. They have always shown how to raise and support a family and friends. Truly inspirations to many of us!!! We look forward to supporting their family in any way we can! Much love, Jeff, Laurie, Meg, Zach and Tyler Watkin

Forty plus years of family interaction contain many good memories. Paul was a "good guy" and friend (and still is). I'll pray for the Stimmler family during this sad time.

My condolences to your family on the loss of such a wonderful individual! Paul worked with me to recruit quality HR internship sites for our Brandywine Human Development and Family Studies students. He met with students to discuss the HR field, carefully prepared them for career success through his HR Management course and connected students seeking internships and jobs through personal recommendations to local HR professionals. The opportunity to sit and chat with Paul counted as winning the lottery because I came away far more knowledgable than when we'd sat down. His sense of humor, strong foundation of ethics, knowledge and experience made him an ideal mentor for the Brandywine HDFS students and me. I regret that I will be out of town on Friday and must miss sharing my warm memories of Paul at his Memorial Service, but please know I will always appreciatively remember him!
