Ralph L. Easter Obituary
Ralph L. Easter of West Chester Ralph L. Easter, 89, of West Chester, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at home, attended by family after a long illness. Born in West Newton, he was the youngest child of the late Samuel Guy Easter and Lucretia Easter. He graduated from West Newton High School. At the start of WWII in 1941, he entered the U.S. Army and fought in the D-Day assault of the Omaha Beach and the liberation of France. After returning, he attended Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, graduating in 1949 with a B.S. in pharmacy. Also that year he married Grace Fisher, with whom he shared 51 loving years until her death in 2001. They settled in West Chester, where he became owner of DeHaven's Drug Store, 106 W. Gay St., until his retirement in 1989. Ralph served on the West Chester Area School Board, was a member of Kiwanis, and a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was a trustee and a deacon. As a pharmacist, Ralph was devoted to that profession and many times rose in the wee hours, or walked to town when roads were impassible to fill a prescription for someone in dire need. He loved nature and was an avid fisherman. Ralph is survived by his three daughters, Gail Easter, Deborah Easter and Aimee Easter, all of West Chester; and five grandchildren, Andrew and Matt Vernon, Arman and Olivia Terzian, and Liam Easter. He was beloved "Unk" to many nieces and nephews. He served his country, community and his family with unsparing love. He touched many with his humor and graciousness and will be missed as long as life lasts. A service of remembrance will be held for family and friends at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, in the Chapel at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove, Road, West Chester, PA 19382. In lieu of flowers, please remember Ralph with a contribution to Neighborhood Hospice, 795 E Marshall St., Ste. 204, West Chester, PA 19380. Arrangements are being handled by the Founds Funeral Home, Inc., West Chester, 610-696-0134. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.foundsfuneralhome.com.
