Obituary Condolences

Richard Charles Borr of Downingtown Richard Charles Borr, 78, of Downingtown, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at his residence. He was the beloved husband to Sara Beyer Borr to whom he was married to for over 29 years. Born Nov. 1, 1934 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Naomi Borr. Mr. Borr grew up in Ben Avon, graduating valedictorian of the class of 1952, from Avon Worth High School. After high school he attended and graduated from Penn State University class of 1956 earning a degree in chemical engineering. After school he entered the United States Navy in Jan. 1957 and served on the USS Antietam from Feb. 1957 through Jan. 1960. He spent his working career working in the plastic and Teflon industry, working for DuPont in Del., LNP in Malvern, and Mikro-Technik in Miltenberg, Germany. Richard was also a lifetime member of the NRA. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Rachael Sand and her husband Peter of Gaithersburg Md., Jessica Mandell of Richmond, Va., step-daughter Heather Harris and her husband Thomas of Worcester, and step-son Derek Race of Talkeetna, Alaska; his grandchildren, Gavin Sand, Isabella Mandell, Hunter, Sara, Shane, and Emily Harris, and Cassidy Race. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his military memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8th, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, RR #2, Annville, PA 17003-9618.
