Richard F. Nagle Obituary
Richard F. Nagle, formerly of Paoli Richard F. (Dick, Rich) Nagle, 72, of Dover, Pa., peacefully passed away on Jan. 19, 2014, at York Hospital, in York, Pa. following an extended illness. Richard was born June 30, 1941 in Faribault, Minn. Upon graduation from high school in 1959, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963. While in the Navy he served as an electronic technician and traveled extensively in Asia and the South Pacific. He installed the voice communication equipment to allow contact with astronaut Wally Schirra and was part of the crew that retrieved the Mercury capsule after splashdown. He also set up and operated the Harbor Defense site in Long Beach, Calif. In 1963 he entered the University of Minnesota majoring in electrical engineering and computer science. In 1966 he was hired by Univac (now Unisys) and was employed there as a software engineer until 2006. Over the years work took him to Roseville, Minn., Houston, Texas, Blue Bell and Malvern. He resided in Paoli for 25 years and in 2008, after retirement, relocated to Dover, Pa. He was extremely proud of being 100% Irish, and enjoyed working in his yard, target shooting, model railroading and collecting model cars. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gratia M. Nagle; one son, Ryan Nagle and his wife va of Ashburn, Va.; one daughter, Catherine McKenzie and her husband Matthew of Athens, Ga.; one grandson, Lszl Nemes of Ashburn, Va.; one sister, Marilyn Hines of Rochester, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that charitable contributions be directed to one of the following, in memory of Richard F.
