Ruth Barsby Steele

Ruth Barsby Steele of Downingtown Ruth Barsby Steele, 93, passed away in Houston, Texas, on Sept. 27, 2013. She was born in Philadelphia, and graduated from Clifton Heights High School. She and her husband lived and raised their family in Springfield and later retired in Downingtown. She worked at Shipley School in Bryn Mawr for 38 years. She was always very active in her church and enjoyed summer vacations at the beach with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Steele, Jr.; son, John (Jack) Edward Steele; brother, Ernest Barsby; and great-granddaughter, Carly Crews. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Bickel and husband Donald of Somerset, N.J. and Betsy Larsen of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Greta Steele of Lansdale; six grandchildren, Robert Larsen, Stacy Crews, Kari Barreneche, Joni Steele, and Tony and John Interrante; and 10 great-grandchildren.
