Sandra L. Murray Obituary
Sandra L. Murray of Downingtown Sandra L. Murray, 76, of Downingtown, entered into eternal rest at her home Dec. 30, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Alphonso Newsome and Gertrude Lockett Newsome and granddaughter of the late Gertrude L. Ridley. Born in West Chester she was a graduate of West Chester Joint Senior High School, class of 1954. An avid reader, Sandra had an extensive book collection and her house was filled with the many, many books she loved to read. Sandra love spending time with her family especially during the holidays. In her earlier years she worked at Cheyney University as a registrar. After retiring from Cheyney she worked at the Paoli Memorial Hospital in the finance department. She leaves behind to cherish her memory four brothers, Joseph B. Newsome (Jean), Edward W. Newsome both of West Chester, Alphonso J. (Mike) Newsome and George Hunter both of Coatesville; three nieces, Karen N. Wright (Steve), Lynn T. Newsome and Rhonda A. Newsome; two nephews, Joseph B. Newsome, Jr. and Keith Simmons (Shelia); as well as many great-nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The Homegoing Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the Charles A. Melton Center, 501 E. Miner Street, in West Chester.
