Selam Berhe Keleta-Williams of Downingtown Selam Berhe Keleta-Williams, at the age of 36 peacefully departed this world on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 surrounded by her family in her home. Selam was born on Aug. 29, 1977 in Asmara, Eritrea to Tsirha Mehansho Keleta and the late Berhe Keleta. Selam was the second youngest of seven kids. Selam and her family moved to the United States on August 7, 1981 to West Chester. Selam was educated in the West Chester School District where she graduated from East High School in 1995. Selam continued her education at West Chester University where she graduated in 2001 with a degree in social work/psychology. Following her graduation Selam dedicated two years of her life to the Peace Corp stationed in Malawi from 2001-2003. Selam lived amongst the natives of the country as she adapted their everyday lifestyle. In 2001 Selam met the love of her life, Charles Williams, who she married 4 years later in 2005. Their relationship produced three beautiful kids, Mhiruny, Merhawy, and Selam as well as her two step kids, Qualea and Charles Jr. Selam was a rare and special individual who touched everyone around her. Her upbeat attitude and positive outlook on life through not just the good moments but as well as all the struggles that surfaced her way was admirable. Selam leaves to mourn her memory her loving husband Charles Williams; her sons, Mhiruny, Merhawy, her daughter, Selam, and her two step-kids Qualea and Charles Jr.; her mother, Tsirha; her brothers, Daniel, Desale, Medhanie, and Semere; her sisters, Eden and Awet; 12 nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, two grandmothers and friends. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12th, at the Milestone Events, LLC of DeBaptiste Funeral Homes, Inc., 600 E. Market St., West Chester. A viewing will be from 8 to 9 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be at the Green Mount Cemetery, West Chester.
