Seymour "Sy" Wolf of Downingtown passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the age of 90. |
Sy was born to Charles Wolf and Sadie Aron Wolf on Sept. 17, 1923, in Bronx, N.Y., weighing 2½ pounds.
Sy served in the Army during World War II as a military policeman in North Africa and Italy.
He went on to attend college on the G.I. Bill at The University of Illinois, where he received his undergraduate degree in psychology. Sy went on to get his master's degree at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
His early working career took him to North Dakota and Richmond, Va. Sy retired in 1989, at the age of 65, as a school psychologist in the New Jersey school system.
Sy's love for travel, took him to many places. Switzerland, China and Israel were just a few of the places he enjoyed. He even lived in Paris, France, for a period of time.
Sy was a devoted brother to Milton Wolf and Marilyn Tomack. Sy moved to Chester County, Pa., in 2005 to be closer to his family.
During his retirement, Sy loved playing bridge at the Lionville YMCA on Thursday mornings.
While he never married or had children, family was very important to Sy. He was both a wonderful uncle and great-uncle.
In addition to being survived by his brother, Milton Wolf, Sy is survived by his nieces, Laura Wolf Shur, Nancy Wolf Baumann and Carol J. Smith; and his nephew, David C. Wolf. Sy is also survived by his great-nieces, Sarah Jordan Shur and Catherine Wolf Baumann; and his great-nephew, Joshua Wolf Baumann.
