Shelly L. McLaughlin

Shelly L. McLaughlin of West Chester Shelly L. McLaughlin, 62, of West Chester, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Richard A. McLaughlin, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Born in Chester, she was the daughter of Louise Anderson Massie and the late Stanley Massie. She was a 1969 graduate of Ridley High School and received her bachelor of science degree in education from West Chester University in 1972. Mrs. McLaughlin was employed as a teacher at Brandywine Wallace Elementary School. Prior to that, she taught at Pickering Valley Elementary School, teaching for a total of 21 years. She was a former member of East Brandywine Baptist Church and was currently attending Calvary Fellowship Church, where she participated in the AWANA ministry program for children. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, Ryan A. McLaughlin (Jennifer) of Honey Brook, Rebecca A. Walsh (Kevin) of Phoenixville, Lara E. Wells (Cory) of Fairfield, Ohio, and Christine L. McLaughlin of West Chester. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Sipple (Tom) of Dayton, Ohio; and by her 11 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, Dec. 27th, at Brandywine Manor House, 120 Germany Hollow Road, Honey Brook, where family and friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. A visitation will also be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26th, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Chester County Library, Science in the Summer Program, 450 Exton Square Parkway, Exton, PA 19341.
