Obituary Condolences

Thomas Francis Calvert of West Chester Thomas Francis Calvert, 86, of West Chester, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Brandywine Hall. He was the beloved husband of Alice Patton Calvert, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; devoted father and grandfather of: Thomas James and JoAnne Calvert and their daughters, Caitlin, Megan and Emily; William John and Cheryl Calvert and their daughters, Casey and Courtney; and Carol Ann and Thomas Crosley and their daughters, Delaney and Lily. Tom was born in Philadelphia and went through the Philadelphia school system. Immediately upon graduation from Dobbins Vocational School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he ranked Aviation Machinist's Mate 3rd Class. He served on active duty from 1943 to 1946 and joined the USNR in 1947. He graduated from Rising Sun School of Aeronautics in 1947 and transferred to PA National Guard 28th Div. in 1948. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army as Sgt. 1st Class from September 1950 to April 1952. Tom was employed by Sun Oil Co. as a corporate pilot from 1956 until retirement in 1983. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at The Church of The Holy Trinity, 212 South High Street, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Tom may be sent to Church of The Holy Trinity or Caring Hospice Services, 400 Commerce Dr., Ste. C, Ft. Washington, PA 19034.
