Thomas A. Cappelli

Thomas A. Cappelli of West Chester Thomas A. Cappelli, 88, passed away Saturday Oct. 5, 2013. He was born May 15, 1925 in Ardmore, to Laura DiJoseph and Frank Cappelli. He was one of 13 children. He grew up in Ardmore, graduating from Lower Merion High School. After high school he was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 7, 1943. Thomas was a Technician Fourth Grade with the 276 Company, 503 Battalion serving in serving in New Guinea and Southern Philippines Campaigns. On Sept. 27, 1945 he was honorably discharged. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was a Master Builder operating his own company and was also an inventor and mechanical genius. Mr. Cappelli is the father of James (Connie), Robert, Andrew (Margaret), Gerard and the late Richard P. and Elizabeth I. Cappelli. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his brother, Berardo Cappelli. In the past year he lost his beloved dogs, Oscar and Shania who never left his side. Family and friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26th in the Funeral Home of John Stretch, 236 E. Eagle Rd., Havertown. Interment will follow in St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown.
