Violet graduated from Lewistown High School in 1943, and after one year at Virginia Intermont College she attended Pennsylvania State College in 1944 and 1945. There she met her husband to be, Melvin Brown, and formed a life long partnership of love and devotion to each other. After marriage in 1948 they lived in various locations in Pennsylvania and Maryland until 1954 when Violet had one of her cherished dreams realized in being able to move to the town she always wanted to live in, West Chester.
