William H. Breitenbach Sr. Obituary
William H. Breitenbach Sr. of West Brandywine William H. Breitenbach, Sr., 84, of Hibernia Road, West Brandywine, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Pocopson Home, following an illness. He was born in Cherry Hill, Md. on June 25, 1929. William was the son of the late Fredrick B. Sr. and Helen (Caragan) Breitenbach. He was the husband of Mary J. (McWilliams) Breitenbach, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. William was a member of the Hibernia United Methodist Church and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a member of the VFW Post #845 and the NRA. William attended Cochranville High School, prior to his service in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. He worked for 40 years at Lukens Steel of Coatesville and also Brandywine Security of 16 years. William enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, dancing, and skating. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Smoker and a brother, Paul Breitenbach. William is survived, in addition to his wife, by a son, William H. Jr. and his wife Pamela Breitenbach of Coatesville; a daughter, Lisa Ann Breitenbach and her husband, Kenneth Vandergriff of New Holland; a granddaughter, Natasha Ann Vandergriff; four brothers, Fredrick Breitenbach of Del., David Breitenbach of S.C., Leonard Breitenbach of Columbia, Pa. and James Breitenbach of Va.; also a sister, Virginia Dagenhart of N.C. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 10th, from the Hibernia United Methodist Church, 232 Hibernia Road, Coatesville, PA 19320, with Pastor Joan H. Trout officiating. Interment will be at the adjoining cemetery. A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of William to the Hibernia United Methodist Church at the above address.
