Ann Hagy O'Brien Obituary
Ann Hagy O'Brien of Quarryville, formerly of New London Ann Hagy O'Brien, 72, of Quarryville, formerly of New London, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 18, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Daniel F. O'Brien, Sr. of Quarryville with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Paul M. and Dorothy Richardson Hagy. Ann was a 1957 graduate of Oxford High School. Through the years, she was an active, faithful member and "Prayer Warrior" of Assumption BVM, West Grove, St. Catherine of Siena Church, Quarryville and Sacred Heart Church, Oxford. Ann also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Food Bank. Ann's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who had a gift of making each family member feel special. Ann's faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She touched countless lives with her strong and joyful spirit. In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her eight children: Daniel F. O'Brien, Jr. of New London, John J. O'Brien, Sr. and his wife Betty Anne of Quarryville, Denise O'Brien Draper and her husband William of Quarryville, Paul R. O'Brien, Sr. and his wife Kay of Oxford, Kelley O. Freebery and her husband David, Sr. of Hockessin, Del., Charles E. O'Brien, Sr. and his wife Lynn of Elkton, Md., Michelle E. Mick and her husband Joel, Jr. of Camden, Del. and Danielle M. Matthews and her husband Jason of Smyrna, Del.; 29 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Maloney of Oxford; two brothers, Richard Hagy of Nottingham and Thomas C. Hagy of Quarryville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Paul Hagy, Jr. Ann's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 23, at Sacred Heart Church, 203 Church Rd., Oxford, where family and friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Family and friends may also call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, at Ruffenach Funeral Home, 224 Penn Avenue, Oxford, 610-932-2277. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 5:30 p.m. Interment will be in Oxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bryn Mawr Hospital Pastorial Care, 130 S.
