Anthony J. 'Stretch' Gentile of Elverson Anthony J. "Stretch" Gentile, 90, of Elverson, died on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at Spruce Manor in West Reading, following an illness. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 7, 1921. Anthony was the son of the late John and Asunta (Terzano) Gentile. He was the husband of the late Leila R. (Linton) Gentile, who passed away on March 16, 2009. Anthony, in partner with his late wife, were the owners of Anthony's Diner in Coatesville from 1969 to 1977. He also served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army. Prior to moving to Pa., Anthony was a tailor in New York. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Anthony is survived by his six sons, Richard Moyer of Morgantown, Anthony, husband of Debra (Putt) Gentile of Mohnton, David, husband of Dawn (Whiteman) Gentile of Birdsboro, Edward, husband of Theresa (McGinn) Gentile of Elverson, Timothy, husband of Teena (Cease) Gentile of Coatesville and Thomas, husband of Paige (Johnson) Gentile of Alabaster, Ala.; two daughters, Asunta "Sue", wife of Frank Kremser of Elverson and Evelyn Nowotarski of Morgantown; a sister, Connie DeVito of Daytona Beach, Fla; there are 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, with the Rev. Dr. Colleen Kristula officiating. Interment will follow at the Caernarvon Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in the memory of Anthony to Diakon Hospice St. John, 1030 Reed Ave., Suite # 102, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
