Arthur James Phillips Sr. of Coatesville South Coatesville Borough Councilman Arthur James Phillips, Sr., 78, of Coatesville, passed away on October 30, 2011, in the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the husband of Rosalie Marie Boots Phillips, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Madeline Pollard Phillips. He retired after 44 years of service at Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville. While at Lukens, he worked consecutively at the Embreeville State Hospital and after retirement he was a bus aid for the Coatesville Area School District. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Church of God In Christ where he served faithfully since 1957. He loved sports and many other things, but he greatest joy was his family and helping others. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Arthur "Duffy", Jr. (Bertha), Glen D. (Rosalind) Francis "Frankie" (Stasia), David L. (Beverly), Saundra L. Duncan (Wade) and Marsha A. Phillips (Henry); one brother, Harold T. Phillips, (LeWanda); sisters, Gladys S. Hall and Madeline Wise; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many friends and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, from the Holy Trinity Church of God In Christ, 101 South 5th Avenue, Coatesville. Relatives and friends may call from 8 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. A viewing will also be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 4, at Holy Trinity with a Jubilee Service to follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Church Of Christ Cemetery, Route #82, Ercildoun. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to Emmett Golden Hunt Memorial Chapel, Inc., Coatesville, 610-380-8000.
