Arthur T. Polishuk Obituary
Arthur T. Polishuk of West Chester Arthur T. Polishuk, 96, of West Chester, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Bellingham Retirement Community. Born in Berwick, Pa. in 1916, he graduated from Chester High School in 1934 and Temple University, receiving degrees in secondary education in 1940 and organic chemistry in 1950. Arthur served 5 years as a Radar Officer in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served as an instructor in the Army Reserve Command & General Staff College until his retirement in 1969 as a Lt. Colonel. He was employed by Sun Oil Company in Marcus Hook, Pa. as a research chemist in the field of lubricating greases and traveled internationally as a lubrication consultant. He was a Member Emeritus of the American Chemical Society as well as a Fellow in the National Lubricating Grease Institute. Over the course of his career he was awarded 18 patents. He was the author of the newest text in 50 years on the development of modern greases and their formulations: A Brief History of Lubricating Greases. He is survived by his sons, Arthur and Robert; and a sister, Hope Johnson of West Linn, Ore.; a granddaughter, Amy, of Falls Church, Va.; and a great-granddaughter, Catherine.
