Obituary Condolences

Beth Ann Sharp of Downingtown Beth Ann Sharp died peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the age of 61. Beth determinedly fought pancreatic cancer for the better part of 3 years. She grew up in Paoli, Pennsylvania and went on to live in Montclair and New Providence, New Jersey, New York City and most recently Downingtown. Beth was the senior vice president of human resources for Aerosoles from which she retired in March of this year. Prior to that role she held a vice president of human resources position at Prudential and a director of student counseling at Montclair State University. Beth received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Penn State University and a graduate degree in counseling from the University of Arizona. While at Penn State she began a lifelong commitment to Kappa Kappa Gamma. She held many chapter positions including president and in 2010 was elected fraternity director of Programs and Education for Kappa. By virtue of this position, Beth served as a trustee on the Board of Trustees for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. She cherished the honor and responsibility of being one of six women leading Kappa across the nation. She continuously shared what she knew and mentored many in Kappa, in business and in life. She was always a calming influence and was able to provide the right guidance at the right moment. She was passionate about the development of young women as leaders of tomorrow. In fact, she recently received a leadership award from Penn State's College of Liberal Arts in recognition of her volunteer work at the college. She had been a member of the Business Minor Task Force and a guest lecturer at Penn State. She also found time to serve the larger community and was on the Board of Directors of the Edwin Gould Services for Children and Families in New York City where she served as Chairman of the Personnel Committee. One of her other passions was physical fitness. She loved competitive swimming and in recent years participated in mini-triathlons. She last participated in the North Fork Triathlon in Southhold, New York even as her treatments were beginning. For those whose lives were touched by Beth, even for a brief time, will miss her loyalty, thoughtfulness, passion for living, reassuring calm and infectious laugh. Beth is survived by her dad, David R. Sharp along with many friends and Kappa sisters she touched so deeply. She was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Moore Sharp and her brother, Michael D. Sharp. A memorial service celebrating Beth's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, at Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 South Valley Road, Paoli, PA 19301.
