Bettina DeMicco Obituary
Bettina DeMicco, formerly of Chester Springs Bettina DeMicco of Avalon, N.J. and formerly of Chester Springs, passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2012 at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. She was the beloved wife of Paul DeMicco, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Tacconelli DeAngelo. She graduated from West Chester Teaching College in 1956 with a BS degree in elementary and secondary education. She then received her master's degree from Penn State. Prior to retirement in 1998, she taught for 37 years, 26 of those at Downingtown High School. Her activities there included the advisor for the Academic Competition Team, where in 1994 they won the State Championship. She was teacher of the year for calendar year 1989 to 1990, and directed plays and musicals at the school, as well as being the advisor for Student Council. In addition to her husband, Bettina is survived by her two daughters, Pamela DeMicco of Magnolia Hill, Delaware and Lisa Kelly of Chester Springs; her sister, Mary Margaret and husband, Joe Bolton of West Chester; and her grandchildren, Adam, Ali, Liam and Jack. She was predeceased by her son, Paul and brother, William, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at St. Brendan the Navigator Parish, 5012 Dune Drive, Avalon, N.J., where family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, at 2 p.m., at St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
