Blanche E. Atwood Obituary
Blanche E. Atwood of Cochranville Blanche E. Atwood, 79, of Cochranville passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Union Hospital, Elkton, Md. Born in Ashe County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Coy Lee and Katey Clyde Comer Mahaffey. She was a member of Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Ruth Ann King of North East, Md., Patricia Lynn Hansen of Nottingham, Sandra Jean Miller of Fla. and Christine Michelle Carr of New London; four sons, Earl Dale Atwood of Nottingham, James David Atwood of Cochranville, Woodrow Charles Atwood of Oxford and Gary Wayne Atwood of Toughkenamon; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Blevins of West Grove, Valyree Smith of Nottingham and Shirley Durborow of Oxford; brothers, Estel Mahaffey of Cochranville, Vester Mahaffey of West Jefferson, N.C., Larry Mahaffey of Oxford, Ted Mahaffey of Port Deposit, Md. and Quentin Hodgson of Cochranville. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Nancy Lizzie Mae Hodgson; a sister, Mabel Brooks; and two brothers, Edward Couram and Garland Mahaffey. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, at the Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church, 303 West Christine Rd., Nottingham. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford.
