Charles W. "Chic" Null, 85, of Cochranville, passed away at the Lancaster General Hospital on Saturday, March 2, 2013.|
He was the husband of Janet R. Hutchins Null.
He was born in Cochranville, son of the late L. Dain and Marion Barkley Null.
He owned Chic's Esso at the corner of routes 10 and 41 in Cochranville from 1958 to 1968. He also owned Chic's Towing, which evolved to the current Null's Towing of Cochranville and Paradise. Chic retired from J.D. Eckman Inc. of Atglen.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II in Somaira in the Philippines.
He was a member of the Cochranville Odd Fellows, Gap VFW, Christiana American Legion and a life member of the Cochranville Fire Company.
Chic enjoyed going to auctions, old cars, and knowing the news of Cochranville.
Surviving are a son, H. Dain, husband of Gwendolyn King Null of Cochranville; stepson, John P., husband of Carol Mullins Linnenbaugh of Cochranville; three grandchildren; two step-grandsons; and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three siblings, Harold Null, Esther Garver and Dorothy Drennen.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, at the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth St., Christiana, Pa., with Pastor Scott Althouse officiating.
There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be in the Cochranville Methodist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cochranville Fire Company, 3135 Limestone Road, Cochranville, PA 19330.
