Doris S. Yearsley Obituary
Doris S. Yearsley of Downingtown Doris S. Yearsley, 92, of Newtown Square, Downingtown, and most recently Tel-Hai Retirement Community, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Brandywine Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late William G. Yearsley, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage at the time of his passing in January 1984. Born in New York, N.Y., Doris was the daughter of the late Ward B. and Lois Adams Smith. She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Newtown Square, where she was active in numerous ministries. She was also active for many years with the Girl Scouts in Delaware County. Doris enjoyed playing cards, knitting, ceramics, and singing in the choir. Mrs. Yearsley is survived by her daughters, Barbara L. Monaghan of Brandamore, D. Jean Southcott and her husband, Frank, of Downingtown, and Laura Y. Riehl and her husband, Martin, of Downingtown; seven grandchildren, Dori, Chris, Paige, Brenda, Erin, John and Kate; four great-granddaughters, Vikki, Lilly, Taylor, and London; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Gwenn A. Voss, and brother, Ward B. Smith, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21, at St. Albans Episcopal Church, 3625 Chapel Rd., Newtown Square, PA 19073.
