Earl J. Moessner Obituary
Earl J. Moessner of Downingtown Earl J. Moessner, 90, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at The Glen at Willow Valley Retirement Community. He was the husband of Marion (Holcombe) Moessner, who died in 2006. He entered the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, and then served in the 8th Air Force, before returning to graduate with a bachelor degree in biology. Serving with the 95th Bombardier Group over occupied countries in Europe, Earl received the Rhineland and Central Europe Battle Ribbons, the European Medal with two Battle Stars and an Air Force Medal. He was honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant. Earl was the director of quality control at Grocery Products Company, a division of the Clorox Company. He was a member of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church, Quarryville, and a former member of Manor Presbyterian and the former Coatesville Presbyterian Church. He was very active, and served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher at those churches. Earl enjoyed volunteering with the Friends of the Railroad Museum in Strasburg. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Paul F. and Elizabeth (Gimbel) Moessner. Earl is survived by a daughter, Pamela A., married to Bryan E. Shuman, of Coatesville; a son, Mark W. Moessner; grandchildren, Jennifer L. married to Robert W. Rice, Kristen E. Shuman, Kevin E. Shuman, Jason P. Shuman and Millicent E. Moessner; three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul W. Moessner. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, (TOMORROW), in the Bachman Funeral Home, 7 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, Pa.
