Elizabeth 'Betsy' Hiddleson Mercer of West Chester Elizabeth "Betsy" Hiddleson Mercer, 79, of West Chester, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at her home. She was the widow of Clarence W. Mercer. Born in Marshallton, she was the daughter of the late T. Vance Hiddleson and Sara March Hiddleson Swanenburg. She graduated from Tredyffrin Easttown High School in the class of 1951. She worked at DuPont Company in Wilmington for eight years and Agway Energy Products for 25 years, retiring in June 2000. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester and the Westtown Auxiliary to the Chester County Hospital. She loved gardening, reading and making crafts. Betsy is survived by two children, Melinda "Mindy" Mercer Ray and her husband Brian S. of Arlington, Va. and Eric Mercer and his wife Laurie of Malvern; four grandchildren, Stephen, Sara, Philip and Daniel. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond Orville Hiddleson, Walter Richard Hiddleson and Loren March Hiddleson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Founds Funeral Home, Inc., 229 South High Street, West Chester, 610-696-0134, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Chester County Hospital Foundation, 701 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380; or to the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380; or to the Arthritis Association of Eastern PA, Bourse Building, 111 S.
