Ernest C. 'Ernie' Barkman Sr. of Honey Brook Ernest C. "Ernie" Barkman, Sr., 71, died on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Lifecare Hospital in West Chester, following an illness. He was born in Birchrunville on March 22, 1940, the son of the late Marshall and Hazel (Bartholomew) Barkman. He was the husband of Grace A. (Price) Barkman, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Ernie was the owner of Barkman Disposal and Twin County Disposal Companies. He was a former member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church. Ernie had a passion for life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and auction sales. His dear friend, Charlie Blosenski, who would take trips together with Ernie to play games at the casino, will miss him. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Barkman. Ernie is survived, in addition to his wife, by his children, Ernest Jr. and his wife Mel Barkman of Honey Brook, Brenda wife of the late Elmer Petersheim of Narvon, Debbie and her husband Bryan Care of Birdsboro, William Deihm of East Earl, Linda wife of the late Harry Haas of Narvon and Gail and her husband Michael Lynch of Conestoga; his siblings, Doris Carlin of Wisconsin, Loretta Bingaman of Leola, Linda Wasson of Florida, Cynthia Whitworth of Coatesville, Dave Barkman of Narvon, Marshall and Wallace Barkman both of Phoenixville and Carl Barkman of Georgia. There are 27 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, from the Morgantown Community Church, 4221 East Main Street, Morgantown, with Pastor Merle G. Stoltzfus officiating. Interment will follow at the Caernarvon Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
