Ethel Baily Hopkins Obituary
Ethel Baily Hopkins of Downingtown Ethel Baily Hopkins, 100, of Downingtown, died peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Coatesville VA Medical Center Hospice Unit. She was the wife of the late Samuel C. Hopkins with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Samuel P. Baily and the late Ethel Davis Baily. She graduated from Audubon High School in New Jersey, The Chester County Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in education. Ethel served as an Army Nurse, during WWII. Ethel became a private duty registered nurse. She also worked for Chester County Visiting Nurse Assn., the Exton School District and volunteered at the Brandywine Hospital and the Downingtown Women's Club. She loved to travel, play tennis, golf and her animals, especially her Irish Setters and Labrador Retrievers. Ethel is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Hopkins of Honey Brook, and several nieces and nephews. Services and interment will be private.
