Frances M. Baumhauer of Downingtown, Pa. Frances M. Baumhauer, 87 of Downingtown, Pa. died Thursday April 26, 2012 at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, Pa. She was the wife of the late John C. Baumhauer Sr. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. she was the daughter of the late George W. Johnson and the late Helen Kissane Johnson John and Frances spent many weekends on vacation with their two children, Joanne and Johnny in North Wildwood, where Fran's parents owned a home. They raised their children first in Abington, a Philadelphia suburb and then in 1956 they moved to West Chester, where they owned a home until 2008. She is survived by her son John Jr. (Maria), who went to Drexel University for Engineering and received his Ph.D from Rensselaer and now lives with his family in Indianapolis, and daughter Joanne (Gene) Shank, who lives with her family in Chester Springs. Also, she is survived by four grandchildren (Sharon, Steven, Gregory, and Marcella) and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen, Mary and Rita. Frances retired from Pepperidge Farm in Downingtown where she worked in sales, and later from AMP in King of Prussia. She loved sewing, crocheting, gardening, ceramics, reading and home decorating over the years. Frances was born and lived in St. Williams Parish in the Lawndale neighborhood of N.E. Philadelphia and was a 1942 graduate of Little Flower Catholic School for Girls. During World War II, Frances worked on the home front and in March 1943 married John who was stationed in Florida. They soon started their family in Philadelphia. Frances and John recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Relatives and Friends are invited to her Funeral Mass, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335 where visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester Pa.
