Frederick Louis Schmidt Obituary
Frederick Louis Schmidt, formerly of West Chester Frederick Louis Schmidt died peacefully at home on February 23, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Caroline; three children, Steven, David and Janet; their spouses Veronica, Tracy and Robert; four grandchildren, Max, Grace, Calista and Silvana; and a brother Edward of Dover, N.H. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie. Fred was born December 24, 1940 in Oak Park, Ill. to John and Ada Schmidt. When he was five years old the family moved to Westfield, N.J. There, Fred and Carol met in high school and were married June 16, 1962. Fred graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a valued member of their winning football team and active in Sigma Chi Fraternity. The majority of Fred's working career was with Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corp. as V.P. of Manufacturing. Spare time was spent with family activities, scouts, volleyball, racketball, bridge, bowling and travel. A long-time resident of West Chester, Fred retired in 2003 and moved to Asheville, N.C. in 2005 to be near family.
