Gail Mooney Briggs of Bethel Twp. Gail Mooney Briggs, loving mother to Janice Briggs Turner and William J. Briggs died Thursday morning, surrounded by her loving family on February 16 at the age of 87. Born August 11, 1924 to the late Samuel C. and Ruth Eben Mooney, Mrs. Briggs has resided the past 35 years in Bethel Twp., previously residing in Media, Pa. A graduate of Upper Darby High School, she worked as a Sales Woman and Model at the Sweater Shop on 69th St. as a young woman. She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert J. Briggs in 1948. Together with her husband Bob, they ran Briggs Auction of Booth's Corner, Pa. until their retirement. Gail was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her joy and purpose in life was her family. She especially enjoyed dancing at family celebrations and on Saturday nights with her husband, Bob. Gail was a lifelong Episcopalian and longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Concord Twp. where she served on the Altar Guild. Gail was also known as a lover of animals. There was never a stray cat or dog that didn't have a home if Gail was aware of it. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Briggs who died this past November, brother, Samuel Mooney and a sister, Lois Kiely. She is survived by a daughter, Janice B. Turner of Chadds Ford and husband John; son, William J. Briggs II and wife Tanya of North Wilmington, Del.,; six grandchildren, Melissa Briggs Leo, Jessica Ann Briggs Culver, Laura Gail Igoe, Stephen Robert Turner, Brittany Ruth Briggs and Brandon D. Gooding and four great grandchildren, Emma Gail Leo, Brian Austin Culver, Lucas Robert Culver and Caden Gooding. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 576 Concord Rd., Glen Mills, PA 19342. Relatives and friends may call Monday Evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, Pa. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
