Geneva A. Johnson Obituary
Geneva A. Johnson of West Chester Geneva A. Johnson, a native of West Chester, born October 27, 1912 in West Chester, daughter of the late Alice and Richard Johnson, passed away on February 14, 2012. She served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Caretaker's Club and Chairwoman of the October Birthday Club. Her employment took her out of this community. She was affiliated with other churches, but maintained her membership at St. Paul's Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Rev. J.C. Clark. She was educated in the West Chester area school district. She graduated from Cheyney State Teachers College now Cheyney University. She received a bachelor's degree in education in 1945 and a masters degree in education in 1952 from Hampton Institute now Hampton University. Ms. Johnson taught forty two years in the Maryland school system. She was a member of the Maryland Retired Teachers Association, the NAACP and the Valley Forge Chapter of The National Hampton Alumni Association. Ms. Johnson was the youngest of nine children and is survived by a host of great and great, great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31st, at St. Paul's Baptist Church, 1 Hagerty Boulevard, West Chester, PA 19380.
