Obituary Condolences

Col. George M. "Mike" Oliver, Retired, of Chester Springs George M. "Mike" Oliver, 72, of Chester Springs, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at his home with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Glenda G. Verhoeven Oliver, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. Born in Knoxville,Tenn., he was the son of the late George and Violet Erwin Oliver. He proudly served his country for 23 years in the U. S. Air Force, retiring with rank of Colonel in 1985. He earned his PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and was employed by Lockheed Martin, in Moorestown, N.J., where he was a program manager for the U. S. Navy's Aegis Program. Mike was a member of Calvary Fellowship Church in Downingtown, and was also a professor at Penn State Great Valley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kristin McIver (Scott) of Cypress, Calif., Leslie Mills of Phoenixville, Jennifer Keller (Matthew) of Foothill Ranch, Calif., and Joshua Oliver (Gena) of Chicago, Ill; and by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 13 at Calvary Fellowship Church, 95 W. Devon Drive, Downingtown. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
