Georgine Royce Pieper Obituary
Georgine Royce Pieper of West Chester Georgine Royce Pieper, 76, of West Chester, passed away at the Wellington Retirement Community on Thursday, March 7, 2013. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Theresa A. (Royce) Pieper. She was predeceased by her dearest companion, and caring friend, S. Hamill Horne of Gladwyne. Georgine was a 1954 graduate of Haverford Township High School. She received a BA from Millersville State Teachers College in 1958 and a master's in education from Temple University in 1967. For forty years, beginning at the age of 22, Georgine taught elementary school, starting at the Chatham Park Elementary School and ending her career at Gladwyne Elementary School as a reading specialist. After retiring, she volunteered frequently to teach English as a second language to new immigrants to the United States. She enjoyed travel immensely and made numerous trips to France to exercise her interest in the French language. Georgine is survived by two younger brothers, Robert E. Pieper of Downingtown and niece Charron Pieper of Los Angeles, Calif., and Richard D. Pieper (Merrill Hesch) of New York, N.Y., and niece Sarah Morgan Pieper and nephew Aidan Royce Pieper. Her dedicated friends Gail Frazer and Elizabeth Locker were at her side frequently with family during her last days. In accordance with Georgine's wishes, a private burial service will be held with family. Georgine will be interred with her parents in West Laurel Hill Cemetery.
