Hazel Mae Maler of Coatesville Hazel Mae (Willoughby) Maler, 90, of Coatesville, passed away from pneumonia on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Ware Presbyterian Nursing Home in Oxford. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Hazel was the eldest daughter of Howard and Lillian (Sala) Willoughby. At the age of 14 she moved to the family farm in Shelton, Conn. and graduated from Shelton High School in 1939. During World War II she worked on the assembly line at Vought Aircraft in Stratford, Conn., installing seats in the famous F4U Corsairs fighter planes that were flown by the Marines in the Pacific theater of war. After the war she was employed by various companies in the southern Connecticut area as an accountant before joining Sikorsky Aircraft where she retired after 27 years of service. Hazel was the loving mother of two sons, Raymond and Martin Lawler of Coatesville; and a daughter, Diana (Maler) Tribunella of Fort Worth, Texas. In addition to Raymond and Diana, she is survived by her brother, Arthur Willoughby and sister, Kathleen Paskus of Shelton, Conn.; five grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Hazel was predeceased by her son Martin; daughter-in-law Babette (Repoche) Lawler and granddaughter, Celine Gurdikian, wife and daughter respectively of Raymond; sister, Margurite Schilkowski; and brother, Howard Willoughby. The family will be holding a "Celebration of Her Life" gathering from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, at her son's home, 123 Freedom Valley Circle, Coatesville, PA 19320.
