Hita C. Kane of West Chester Hita C. Kane, 93, of West Chester, died Wednesday February 22, 2012, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester. She was the wife of the late Thomas Kane. Born in Sikeston, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William Clymer and the late Genevieve Harris Clymer. Hita had worked as an elementary school teacher in the Bristol Township School District. In 1941, during World War II, she began serving as U.S. Army nurse in the East Indies, New Guinea, and Bismarck Archipelago. In 1958 she worked as an elementary school nurse. She received her bachelor of education from West Chester University, class of 1964. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Bristol Township School District in 1964. In 1975, Hita retired to Sun City, Ariz. She relocated to Pennsylvania in 2009. She is survived by her son, John C. Elwood and his wife Eleanor of West Chester; two grandsons, Brian Elwood, and Christopher Elwood and his wife Kacy; and one great-grandson, Jude Elwood. Services and interment are private.
