Ilona Markos of Berwyn Mrs. Ilona Markos, 95, passed away Aug. 18, 2013, with her family at her side, in her home at Trinity House, Berwyn, Pa. Mrs. Markos, ne Liber Baron Helena Kemny of Magyargyermonostor, Austro-Hungarian Empire was born July 25, 1918 in the city of Maros-Vsrhely, Romania to Baron Pl Kemny and Baroness Eszter Kemny, ne Eszter Petrichevich Horvth. She spent her early days in the village of Malomfalva. (Morasti, Romania.) In 1944 she graduated as Doctor of Economics from the University of Kolozsvr, Hungary. In 1944 she married Andrs Markos with whom she had two sons, Pter-Pl and Dnes. They lived in Kolozsvr, (Cluj, Romania) under communist rule. After her husband's death Mrs. Ilona Markos came to the United States in 1976 where she worked as a nanny and later as food service support at the Devon Preparatory School and she retired at the age of seventy-nine. She was fluent in Hungarian, French, German, Romanian and English that she learned after her arrival in the USA. Mrs. Markos is remembered for her lively spiritual strength, her ability to support and guide fellow Christian worshipers and for her unwavering faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ. Besides gardening, cooking, fine symphonic music, individual and group yoga exercises, art museums and international travel she loved her family dearly and supported each and everyone with what they needed most. While her son and daughter-in-law were going through the motions, she supported them both with a bleeding heart and this didn't affect a jota her good relationship with her now former daughter-in-law, Maria Markos-Denes. She is survived and sadly missed by her sister, Mrs. Katalin Czak, ne Baroness Katalin Kemny, and her three children all of Budapest, Hungary; son Peter of Wilmington, Delaware; three grandsons, Ers Markos of Twisp, Washington, Apor Markos and his wife Liz of Newark, Del. and Ivn Markos and his wife, Melissa; as well two great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Bianca Markos of Budd Lake, N.J.; her former daughter-in-law Maria Markos-Denes of Hockessin, Del.; and many-many friends, especially those at Devon Preparatory School, the Lutheran Church family at Devon, and the many friends at the Trinity House, in Berwyn. A Christian memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 7th, at the Devon Preparatory St. Mary's School Chapel, led by Gza Pzmny, Piarist Father retired teacher at Devon Prep. In lieu of flowers, in remembrance of Ilona Markos you may send your heartfelt donations to Surrey Services for seniors, Berwyn, Pennsylvania.
