Irma (Molnar) Hawkins of West Chester Irma Nancy Hawkins, 86, died peacefully at Barclay Friends Hall in West Chester on October 29, 2011. Irma was born in New Brunswick, N.J., to Frerenc and Irma Molnar on June 1, 1925. She spent much of her youth in Ithaca, N.Y. and it was there that Irma met her future husband, Frederick Eugene Hawkins, a student at Cornell University. During World War II she was employed in the manufacture of Colt 45 automatic pistols for the military while Fred served in the Pacific. Following Fred's release from active Naval service in June 1946 and upon his return from Japan, they married July 7, settling in New York state. They moved to Ambler, Pa. in 1957. A pattern and dress maker by training, Irma was an accomplished seamstress. She was involved with natural resource conservation, and was a life member of the Isaac Walton League, serving terms as Philadelphia's Liberty Bell Chapter president. Irma was predeceased by her husband and son, Frederick Eugene Hawkins, Jr. (Jeannette). She is survived by her son Eric Daniel Hawkins (Teresa and daughter Anne) of West Chester; son Jeffrey Alan Hawkins (Linda and children James and Lauren) of Glenside; and daughter Jennifer Ann Hawkins (Carl Lecce and sons William and Daniel Hawkins) of Middletown, Conn. Irma lived at Barclay Friends for 12 years. Services will be private.
