John Mason Houston III Obituary
John Mason Houston III, formerly of Paoli John Mason Houston III passed from this life Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Virginia Manning (Norris) Houston, who predeceased him in 2004. John was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania December 18, 1917 to Wallace Boyd Houston and Josephine (Hunt) Houston. He graduated from Downingtown High School in 1937, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B-17 pilot where he flew 24 combat missions with 8th Air Force, 381st Bomb Group from Ridgewell Field in England during WWII. He continued his service after the war in the Air Force Reserve, where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a warrior when necessary, and a gentleman always. John was very active in the Church of The Good Samaritan for many years. He enjoyed model railroading, traveling and sailing. John is predeceased by his brother, Wallace Boyd Houston Jr., and cousin Robert Girvin Hunt. He is survived by his brother, Herbert Arnold Houston, his sister, Nancy Houston O'Hara; two sons, Norris M. Houston and James F. Houston, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's life celebration service on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Good Samaritan 212 West Lancaster Avenue Paoli, Pa.
